Baykar has officially announced the establishment of a new company in Morocco for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The company, named Atlas Defense, has been confirmed through an official decision published in Morocco’s Official Gazette. The newly formed facility will manufacture Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı TİHA, while also engaging in various defense industry activities.

In November 2024, Baykar’s CEO Haluk Bayraktar met with Moroccan Minister of Trade Ryad Mezzour during the Marrakech Aviation Exhibition. Following this meeting, speculation arose regarding Baykar’s potential investment in Morocco. With the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, the investment has now been officially confirmed.
Atlas Defense will focus on UAV design, production, development, and maintenance, along with the manufacturing and sale of UAV spare parts. Additionally, the company will be involved in the design and assembly of electronic devices for the defense industry, as well as the production of technological products and systems. It is also expected to engage in software, hardware, and mechanical system development.
Baykar’s new investment in Morocco has been established with a capital of $250 million. The construction of the UAV production facility aims to increase Baykar’s production capacity and shorten delivery times for North African countries. Morocco is already among the nations that have added Bayraktar TB2 drones to their inventory. According to reports in Moroccan media, deliveries of Bayraktar Akıncı TİHAs are also expected to begin soon.
This investment will further strengthen Baykar’s presence in the African market, contributing significantly to the region’s defense industry ecosystem. As part of Baykar’s global expansion strategy, this move marks another milestone in the international growth of the Turkish defense industry.
