Fully Electric Military Off-Road Vehicle: E-ARAZİ

The E-ARAZİ, a fully electric military off-road vehicle developed as part of Anzatsan’s E-Modernization project, was showcased during the Winter-2025 Exercise held in Kars, Turkey. Jointly developed with Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE), the vehicle features high mobility, low acoustic signature, and reduced thermal detectability.

The E-ARAZİ was converted from the Land Rover 110 model, with its internal combustion engine replaced by electric motors on the front and rear axles. The vehicle is powered by 107.5 kWh battery packs, strategically positioned at the front and rear for balanced weight distribution. This electric drivetrain provides the vehicle with a range of 400 km and a top speed of 150 km/h.

The system generates 335 horsepower, with an energy capacity of up to 246 kWh. Operating at 252V nominal voltage, the vehicle supports both AC and DC charging, making it compatible with various charging stations. A 360-degree camera system enhances the driver’s situational awareness, enabling better maneuverability in challenging terrain conditions.

Measuring 5.1 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 2 meters in height, the E-ARAZİ has a combat weight of 4,600 kg and a payload capacity of 1,250 kg, accommodating four personnel. The vehicle is operational in temperatures ranging from -32°C to +49°C, making it adaptable to extreme conditions.

Equipped with a fully independent suspension system and 4×4 drivetrain, the vehicle can climb slopes up to 45% and operate on 30% side inclines. It accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in just 8 seconds and has a turning radius of 5.4 meters, allowing for efficient maneuverability in tight spaces.

E-ARAZİ integrates GPS and an Inertial Navigation System (INS) for precise positioning. It also includes electric adjustable seats, built-in heating and cooling systems, and a vehicle data display that provides real-time battery, range, and performance information.

One of the key advantages of the electric motors is their low acoustic and thermal signature, making the vehicle harder to detect through sound and infrared sensors. Compared to traditional internal combustion military vehicles, the E-ARAZİ operates almost silently, reducing the risk of enemy detection. Surround-view cameras further improve operational safety by offering a comprehensive field of vision.

As the defense industry moves towards hybrid and fully electric military vehicles, Turkey is expanding its expertise in eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions. Following its field testing at the Winter-2025 Exercise, the future deployment and potential mass production of E-ARAZİ remain to be determined.
